What's the deal in Thailand - are many shops setup for european / more technical divers? Am I going to be stuffed with a DIN reg? Am planning a 2 week dive trip later this year, visiting Phuket, Lanta and Phi-Phi.

[I know I can use an adapter, but that really defeats the point.]

Also I read that there's some restriction in place where you have to dive with a professional - I can't imagine that's rigidly enforced?

Many of the operators here use the yoke system. The majority of my tanks are set up this way too. However, we do keep some tanks with DIN valves on, just for customers as yourself, usually on our nitrox tanks. However, on our new boat coming out next month, we shall be blending by continuous method, so you will be able to take air or nitrox on whatever DIN tank you have.

Supervision wise, we like to let divers be guided in small groups of similar ability. Times past we have let buddy teams plan and execute their dive once they have dived a site before.

Enjoy your trip, don't forget we can offer you most of the diving you can have from Phuket, Phi Phi and Lanta from our base in Ao Nang, Krabi.

The most commonly used pillar valve here in Thailand is the yolk valve. As the "DIN" regulators are now very popular, some dive operators may have a number of tanks in reserve for the DIN user. Many tank pillar valves may also be  fitted with DIN inserts. You need to check with the Dive Centre, on which DIN system they use before making your booking.
