Why do I need to be trained as a snorkeller?
Snorkelling is accessible to everyone. You can purchase snorkelling equipment at any beach or dive shop with no prior training or qualification. However, it should be remembered that snorkeling dose carry some
risks, depending on the snorkelling activities that are being carried out. Whereas surface snorkel is relatively safe and doesn’t normally require much training; apart from the correct fining technique, snorkel and mask clearing etc. However, once we submerge underwater for example; by snorkelling down to look at the corals and fish, then there is some physiological effect on our body. Unless we are aware of these effects and know how to avoid such problems, then we can reduce the risks of this problem occurring by being a trained snorkeler.
Apart from the above, being confident and competent and safe snorkeler will make your snorkelling more enjoyable. These are just a few of the various reasons why proper training is recommended.
