Crossover Table of Similar Qualifications
These tables can be used to assess at what level a divers crossover form other agencies would cross over to in order to obtain the BSAC equivalent diver grade.
On completion of the additional crossover lessons and skills, the diver can be issued the appropriate dive grade for the level of BSAC diver they are crossing over too.
Ocean Diver Crossover
All ‘Entry Level’ qualifications (which typically do not include rescue training) such as:
CMAS One Star Diver
NASDS Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver
NAUI Scuba Diver and Advanced Scuba Diver
PADI Open Water Diver
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
Royal Navy Ships Diver
SAA Open Water Diver
SSI Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver
The Instructor should conduct the following theory lessons and practical skills,
Theory code - Nitrox Workshop, OT4, OT6 Practical code- OS 5- Safety Skills
Sports Diver crossover
All ‘Second Level’ qualifications (which must include rescue training) such as:
CMAS Two Star Diver
HSE Commercial Diver: HSE Scuba Diver /HSE Surface Supply
Diver / HSE Surface Supply (Top Up) Diver /HSE Closed Bell
Diver (formerly HSE Diver Part 4, 3, 1 and 2 respectively).
NASDS Rescue Diver
NAUI Scuba Rescue Diver
PADI Rescue Diver
SAA Club Diver
SSAC Third Class Diver/ Sports Diver
SSI Advanced Open Water Diver with ‘Stress and Rescue’ Specialty
Army Compressed Air Diver
The Instructor should conduct the following theory lessons and practical skills,
Theory code - Nitrox Workshop, ST3, ST4, ST5
Practical code – SO2 SO3 SO 5 and if required, the “Optional” Depth experience dives, 25, 3O and 35 metres
Dive Leader
All ‘Third Level’ qualifications (which must include dive leadership training) such as:
NASDS Dive Supervisor
NAUI Dive Master
PADI Dive Master
SAA Dive Leader
SSAC Second Class Diver/ Master Diver
SSI Dive Control Specialist
The Instructor should conduct the following theory lessons and practical skills,
Theory code - DT3, DT4, DT5, DT6 and DT8
Practical code – DO1, DO4, and if required, the “Optional” Depth experience dives, 40, 45 and 50 metres
Advanced diver
Any higher level of qualification, such as:
CMAS Three Star Diver
SAA Dive Supervisor
Because of the variation allowed in training for the higher diving qualifications awarded by other diver training agencies, BSAC is unable to accept them as being of a similar standard to BSAC Advanced Diver.
Diver wishing to gain the Advanced Diver qualification will crossover to a Dive Leader and then enroll onto the Advanced Diver Course
